What an electrifying whirlwind of excitement we had at the ICA Spring Camp in Glen Rock! From strategic chess battles to adrenaline-pumping dodgeball showdowns, every moment was charged with energy and enthusiasm!
Campers dove into their morning lessons with fervor, tackling brain-teasing puzzles, dissecting intense tournament matches, and delving into the strategic genius of grandmasters. In Coach Sean’s group, Dharsh emerged as the ultimate point-earner, closely followed by the indomitable Freddie. Meanwhile, Coach Yaacov’s group witnessed Naina's spectacular rise to claim the coveted best-in-group prize, showcasing true mastery.
But the excitement didn't stop there! Nicholas dazzled everyone with his mind-bending memory skills, flawlessly recounting a legendary 1995 world championship clash between Anand and Kasparov, complete with a bonus presentation of a Greco game. Talk about impressive!
Before the morning brain workouts, campers kicked off their days with heart-pounding rounds of Circle of Doom, where Nicholas and Sophia emerged victorious time and again, setting the stage for an epic day ahead.
After lessons, it was time to unleash the competitive spirit with dodgeball battles that could rival any epic showdown. Amidst the chaos, Nick and Claire emerged triumphant, proving their dodgeball prowess to all.
But it wasn't all about physical prowess; we also celebrated healthy living with a nutritious lunch competition, which saw Sophia snagging the top spot for her wholesome meal choices.
Then came the highlight of the afternoon: the exhilarating tournaments where campers put their skills to the ultimate test. Kate and Dharsh dominated section 1, while Naina claimed victory in section 2, showcasing their strategic brilliance and determination. And let's not forget the heart-pounding Blitz/Bughouse tournament on Friday, with Kate and Emma winning the tournament after defeating second place team Nick and Lucas in a head to head matchup!
Even the rainy day couldn't dampen our spirits as we indulged in a special blitz event, with Nicholas reigning supreme once again, proving that nothing can dull our competitive edge.
Afternoons were filled with a delightful mix of math challenges, artistic expression, and mind-bending games, keeping the excitement levels soaring. Congratulations to Claire, Sophia, Nana, and Nicholas for their outstanding achievements in art, math, and puzzles, showcasing their diverse talents and unstoppable drive.
As the camp came to a close, both campers and coaches alike reveled in the unforgettable experiences and friendships forged.
